I love food. I’m a self confessed food lover, and there is no doubt that if I stopped exercising I would probably balloon to the size of a hippopotamus. My boyfriend also loves food, but he has introduced me to another world: the world of coffee. Prior to meeting him I would have been quite happy with my Nescafe granules and a bit of boiling water, but apparently there is a lot more to it than that. I quite like my wine tastings and such, but who knew that coffee tastings existed!? Pretty much every outing we have together revolves around a new coffee experience, or a nice tasty nibble. The pair of us spend a lot of time researching, making, looking at and sampling food and coffee, and we thought it might be an idea to try to share some of our experiences with you.

To provide a little context, I took a major career change last year and went back to University as a mature entry medical student. A few years ago I discovered a love for baking; perhaps it is the need to focus on such specific measurements, and the intricacy of decorating cakes which gives me distraction enough to escape some of the everyday stresses which I am sure you can empathise with, but I find baking incredibly relaxing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the other half bake (although he’s getting close, constantly buying too many bananas and leaving the perfect number to become so brown that the only thing left to do with them is make banana bread – next time I’ll make him do it himself!), but he certainly excels at cooking. We’re passionate foodies and when we’re not too busy with work we love spending time together in the kitchen, cooking up new creations and sharing them with friends.

Because I have recently become a full time student again, not only does medicine demand a lot of my time but I also have very limited money to spend. I’m constantly searching for cheap and quick ways to create wonderful food, and to be able to entertain crowds on a budget. Hopefully some of the upcoming entries will give you some good ideas to not only be able to make quick, delicious meals, but also provide some honest reviews of places which we have been fortunate enough to visit on our travels.

Happy reading :-)
